Lightwater Country Park

Lightwater Country Park extends to 59 hectares and consists of a variety of natural habitats for a mulitude of wildlife and plants. These include heathland, woodland, meadows, scrub, bog and ponds.
The Country Park has a pond (the famous Lightwater Duck pond) and a large fishing lake called Hammonds Pond. The pond is stocked well with Roach, Perch, Carp and Bream.
There are plenty of pitches around the lake with lots of shade in parts during the day making this one of the best lakes around.

There are also plenty of other activities to keep you busy and during the seasons such as exploring one of the many nature trails or undertaking the fitness trail.
Adjacent to the Visitor Centre are picnic areas and public toilets. Also within the Country Park is Lightwater Leisure Centre. This complex offers sporting facilities, a function room and bar. Further details of the Leisure Centre are available on 01276 472662. All of the above areas have facilities for disabled access.

Fitness First provides the various paid for activities, such as 5 a-side football (indoor or outdoor), tennis, badminton, basketball, table tennis or the gym.
There are also vending machines available for drinks and snacks should you get peckish whilst fishing.

The various trails are easy to follow and are well maintained are are great to explore. There are a number of amazing views of the surrounding areas and the heather in the summer months looks fantastic!

Fishing Licences for fishing at the Country Park
The Council own Hammonds Ponds in Lightwater Country Park on which the public are allowed to fish. To obtain a fishing licence for this pond contact The Lightwater Angling Society.
